The gases contained in the air are oxygen, carbon dioxide and the nitrogen which we introduce in here.
Did you know that nitrogen is actually an essential element for humans?
In this article, nitrogen will be explained.
By the time you finish reading this article, you may be thankful for nitrogen.

Properties and characteristics of Nitrogen

Nitrogen is the most abundant element in the Earth’s air and is said to be four times more abundant than oxygen.
It is also one of the main elements of amino acids and proteins, and one of the essential elements for humans as it is abundant in the building blocks of DNA.
How Nitrogen is used in society
Nitrogen is difficult to imagine where it is used, but in addition to the major ‘liquid nitrogen’, it is also used in ‘processing semiconductor’ and ‘keeping food fresh’.
Here is a closer look at how they are used.
Nitrogen is useful for “liquid nitrogen”

Liquid nitrogen is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word, nitrogen.
-196°C, inexpensive and used for low sound experiments in laboratories.
Liquid nitrogen is extremely convenient, but it must be used with particular attention as it can cause frostbite and asphyxiation if used incorrectly.
Nitrogen is useful for “Processing semiconductors.”

Nitrogen is also used to process semiconductors.
Silicon is the main material used in modern semiconductors, which is so difficult to process that it oxidizes in an instant.
Processing of semiconductors requires ultra-fine and precise machining. One of the conditions for this is the process of feeding nitrogen in large and stable quantities. This is because nitrogen is inert and therefore prevents oxidation.
Thanks to nitrogen, we have semiconductors for computers, smartphones and games.
Nitrogen is useful for “Maintaining the freshness of foodstuffs.”

The most familiar and nitrogenous snack is potato chips.
Nitrogen is not contained in the chips but in the air in the bag. The use of nitrogen prevents oxidation and the gas force inflates the bag to prevent it from losing its shape. Nitrogen is also used in liquor and juices to remove dissolved oxygen in the water.
History of Nitrogen

Chemical symbol: N
English name: Nitrogen
Originally found in Scotland, this element was discovered as ‘toxic air’.
Named after an experiment conducted at the time in which a candle was burnt in a sealed container, oxygen was removed and the candle was passed through a carbon dioxide-absorbing solution, and when a ouse was finally exposed to the remaining gas, it suffocated to death.
Nitrogen is derived from the Greek words ‘nitron’ meaning nitre and ‘gennen’ meaning to make.
